OPEN ECONOMY

We call the game economy “open”. This means that once Supernova Shards is released, the internal economy will follow the following principles:

  • During the development, the world will be created – stars, planets, and living beings. In particular, corporations that will exist at the time of the game’s start will have property and their production chains will already be established.
  • After the game world is launched, no things in the world will just appear out of thin air. Everything new that will be created will be produced by the players.
  • Produced things can be destroyed by external forces. And also they will slowly wear out and at some point will require replacement.
  • Players will be able to exchange their property with each other and make deals.
  • The developers promise to follow these rules, but leave the right of making changes if the interests of the game and players require it.

During the development of Supernova Shards, new versions will be released regularly for public testing, and the game world will be reset frequently. The rules of the open economy within and between testing cycles will differ from version to version.

OPEN ECONOMY v0

These rules apply to Alpha 1 through Alpha 3.

Only LFC can be used to make purchases.

All purchases will be refunded after the testing cycle is complete.

OPEN ECONOMY v1

These rules apply starting with Alpha 4.

As before, once you buy items for LFC, you can use them for the duration of the current testing cycle. The developers can end the cycle at any time. If you still have the purchased items or they have been consumed (food eaten, bullets shot off, etc.) at the end of the cycle, you will get 100% of their value back.

If you want, you can sell the owned item to the same store you bought it from. The merchant will offer a price of 80% of the item’s value, keeping 20% as a commission.

Player-to-player combat is prohibited on the trading station and the starship buses. However, in other places, players can attack each other. As a result of such battles, you can lose the purchased items, for example, if another player takes them from your dead body. This player will be able to sell them in “The Silent Fence” store for 30% of the value. At the end of the testing cycle, you will receive an insurance payment of 50% of the lost items value. Of course, this is not only a danger, but also an opportunity. If you win the fight, you can also earn by selling trophies.

Note that “Alien Organics” store is ready to buy parts of arachnids’ bodies. These giant semi-intelligent insects attacked the neighboring station and bred there. You can get to the infected station on a starship bus or on your own starship, which you can buy (The Silent Fence does not buy back starships yet, so you do not risk losing funds if a starship will be taken away).
